‘How do I start planning my wedding in paradise?’

  • Request information. Congratulations, you’ve already completed the first step! We will send you all of the necessary and helpful information about Valentines Resort & Marina and your wedding plans.
  • Reserve your wedding date and event space. Once you have chosen a wedding date, contact us to make sure that the date is still available. As we try to hold just one in-house wedding per day, we encourage you to do this as soon as possible to ensure availability. When you’re ready to confirm, we require a non-refundable deposit of $1000 to reserve your wedding date. If you would like to book your hotel room at the same time, we can use the same deposit to hold your room reservation
  • Set up a ‘Group Account’ for your guests. To ensure that your guests all receive the same rate and are connected to your wedding group, we create a group account in our reservations system. This way, when your guests call to book rooms they only need to reference your wedding to receive your rates! We can provide a letter for you to distribute to your guests with details on the hotel, the room rates, and the reservation process. If you wish to block rooms for your guests, we will need to take a $600 deposit on each room.
  • Send invitations. For destination weddings, we suggest setting your RSVP date at least 4 months in advance of your arrival. This will allow your guests enough time to secure their rooms, and for you to plan your events.
  • Decide on any additional events. We would love to help you plan a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, etc. for you and your guests! We can also help you come up with fun group activities, such as a sail on our catamaran, bonfire with s’mores, or a private snorkel booze hunt. It’s always best to secure your plans in advance, as we may have other events booking around yours.
  • Finalize Details. Decide on wedding details such as flowers, arch decorations, cake, and music! You have time to decide on all the fun details up until we finalize the contract and invoice 30 days before the event. It’s never too early to start sending us photos and ideas, but we will really start planning everything a few months out. Go through our Wedding Guide and our Wedding Worksheet to decide on what you’d like to add, and be sure to keep us updated!
  • Sign wedding and event contract. Once we have worked out the details of your events, your wedding coordinator will send you a complete event contract– usually about 1 month out from your event. Final payment is due twenty one days prior to your event.
  • Complete paperwork for courthouse and send. We recommend sending this information at least 1 month in advance of your wedding date.
  • The balance on all events is due 21 days prior to your first event.

  • Can I get married the same day as my arrival in The Islands Of The Bahamas?
    No, both parties must have resided in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas for not less than one day prior to the date of the application.
  • How long will it take to get a marriage license?
    It takes two business days, excluding Bahamian holidays.
  • Can I get a license the same day if I arrive by cruise ship?
    Yes, exceptions are made for individuals arriving by cruise ship, once you have met the twenty-four hour residency requirement and have your letter from the Purser’s Office/Guest Services, signed by your ship’s captain, confirming the same.
  • Would my marriage license be legal in my country?
    Yes, the Bahamas marriage license is a legal document issued by the Bahamas Government.
  • Can I apply for a marriage license by mail?
    No, both parties must be in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas at the time of the application.
  • Would I be able to use my marriage license from my country?
    No, only the Bahamian marriage license is legal in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
  • Can my Pastor/Rabbi perform the wedding ceremony?
    No, however your Pastor may assist the local Pastor with the wedding ceremony.
  • Can I have a non-denominational or non-religious ceremony?
    Yes. Your consultant or marriage officer can show you a variety of options for a traditional, religious or strictly legal union.
  • I would like to get married in Harbour Island. Do I need to come to Nassau for a marriage license?
    No, you can obtain a marriage license at the Administrator’s Office on that island.
  • When can I get married?
    Weddings must be performed between sunrise and sunset.
  • Can I get married on the weekend?
    Yes, you can get married on Saturday or Sunday, provided you make application during the working days of Thursday or Friday.
  • Why do I need a certified copy of the marriage certificate?
    It is required by many lending institutions and insurance companies. Also if the wife now wishes to have a passport with the marriage surname.
  • Do I need a license for a Vow Renewal?
    No, you do not need a license for a Vow Renewal.

Our Restaurant Dining room area is used as our Business Conference and Meeting space and is our most popular Corporate Event Venue. It is located on the water with beautiful Harbour Side views and can comfortably accommodate up to 60 people.

Pool Side Venue

Our Poolside location is most popular for larger group events. With views of our Lucius property grounds, this is a great location for a larger Corporate meeting and can comfortably accommodate up to 125 people.

Rooster Tail Bar Lower Deck Area

Overlooking our Beautiful Marina, this is the perfect space to have a get together at sunset. Located on the water just across from our Boathouse Dining room and can comfortably accommodate up to 60 people.

Beachfront Location (Ceremony Only)

If you’d like to order a wedding cake, we would love to help you! All cakes may be customized by flavor, filling, frosting, and design preferences. An upcharge may apply for premium flavors, or specialty designs. There will be a 18% service charge added to your order total to cover the cost of delivery, setup, etc. We will provide the necessary serving utensils, as well as cake stands and cupcake displays.

Our standard 6” wedding cake with elegant piping design and tropical flower accent is $50 (serves up to 10), or $65 for an 8” (serves up to 15). Depending on your group’s size, you may want to consider ordering a mix of cake and cupcakes!
Cupcakes are available by the dozen in your choice of flavor, ranging in price from $30-$40.

We have included a basic pricing outline, but if you have anything particular in mind, especially specific design elements, you should send us photos to get a price quote.
